How to Prepare for Your Facial: A Step-by-Step Guide

Preparing for a facial might seem straightforward, but a few key steps can help you get the most out of your appointment. Whether you're a seasoned spa-goer or a first-timer, these tips will ensure a smooth and relaxing facial experience.

1. Leave the Jewelry at Home Avoid wearing jewelry to your facial appointment. It’s easier to relax and allows your esthetician to work more effectively without worrying about your accessories during the facial.

2. Wear Comfortable Clothing Choose comfortable clothing for your facial appointment. You’ll want to be as relaxed as possible, and comfy clothes can help set the tone for your facial experience.

3. Light Makeup is Okay While light makeup is fine, skip the heavy stuff. This way, we won't spend extra time removing makeup, allowing more time for your actual facial treatment.

4. Stick to Your Routine Don't make any changes to your skincare routine a week or sooner before your facial. The morning of your facial appointment, continue with your normal routine—serums, moisturizer, and sunscreen are all okay.

5. Discontinue Active Ingredients Stop using active ingredients like retinoids, AHAs, and BHAs 3-5 days before your facial. This helps prevent over-exfoliation and ensures your skin is in the best condition for your facial treatment.

6. No Shaving or Waxing Avoid shaving or waxing any areas of your face prior to your facial. This helps prevent irritation and allows your skin to fully benefit from the facial treatment.

7. Plan for Travel and Parking Chicago traffic can be unpredictable. Give yourself plenty of time to travel and park so you arrive relaxed and ready to enjoy your facial. Facials are just as much about relaxation as they are about healthy skin!

8. Speak Up if You're Nervous If you’re feeling nervous about your facial, let your esthetician know. We’re here to provide a great facial experience and answer any questions you might have along the way.

9. Avoid Caffeine Try to avoid drinking caffeine too close to your facial appointment time. Caffeine can increase anxiety and jitteriness, which is the opposite of what we want during a relaxing facial.

10. Communicate Allergies or Issues Make sure to inform your esthetician of any allergies or potential issues. This helps us tailor the facial treatment to your specific needs and ensure a safe and enjoyable facial experience.

By following these simple steps, you can ensure that your facial is as effective and enjoyable as possible. We look forward to helping you achieve healthy, glowing skin with our facial treatments!
